Billie Jean just calved. Hard to tell, but betting on a heifer calf.

Meredith calved on 1/23. Looks like a bull calf. First we’ve had since Tatonka Von Steele.

We named our new bull calf JNC Tatonka Von Steele. It is a name of great import, and one he is destined to live up to. He is growing quickly and we fired up about his progress.

It has been a relatively mild winter. Cold, but really light snow. Our cows are doing great. We’ve supplemented their forage with alfalfa and corn/oats on occasion. Our bull’s horns are really starting to grow. Breeders seek symmetrical horns, but they come in all shapes and sizes. Some have horns that grow straight out for a couple feet, then in a close to 90 degree angle head right up towards the sky.
